FREETOWN, Sierra Leone, 31 March 2022 In line with its’ mission to ensure that every young person’s potential is fulfilled, UNFPA is supporting the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education to strengthen Comprehensive Sexuality Education and implement the Radical Inclusion Policy which aims to reintegrate vulnerable learners into mainstream education.

In March 2022, UNFPA joined the Ministry at a ceremony where several girls were reintegrated into formal education in Moyamba district. Speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister for Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Madam Emily Gorga expressed happiness at the reintegration of 201 adolescent girls into school with UNFPA support and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensuring that every child   has access to quality education

UNFPA Deputy Representative, Sibeso Mululuma congratulated the Ministry on the National Policy on Radical Inclusion in Schools, noting the importance of education in enabling adolescent girls to achieve their full potential. She further noted that comprehensive sexuality education is essential for keeping girls in schools as it empowers them to make informed choices.
